GIMME GIMME GIMME

At Sky City Starlight Symphony 2002, four unsuspecting kiwi singers donned tight white polyester flares and silly wigs to perform a medley of ABBA’s greatest hits and 200,000 people went wild! Having unleashed a torrent of Abbamania, this stunned and stunning quartet felt compelled to ride the wave and form ABBAlicious; a loving tribute to the one and only Swedish super-group.

It’s a tough job Stig, but Jackie Clarke, Keri Harper, Chris Powley and Craig Muller are up to it!

In the stressful hurly burly that is the noughties, ABBAlicious is a musical escape to a simpler time and place where sugar pop, 100% synthetic costumes and cheesy choreography rule!

ABBAlicious sing and dance their way through a 90-minute show of ABBA’s greatest hits. All the classics are there; Dancing Queen, Waterloo, Mamma Mia and Fernando. Not only that, the ABBAlicious show includes tasty rare treats from the ABBA songbook and songs ABBA might have covered if that messy thing called divorce hadn’t entered the picture!

ABBAlicious’ career highlights so far include appearances at the 2004 Porirua Festival of the Elements, the 2003 NBR Stadium Spectacular and the Queenstown Winter Festival 2002.

Let them make your function their next career highlight!

Knowing Me Knowing You

Jackie Clarke
Star sign: Aries
Favourite Abba song: Knowing Me Knowing You because Frida finally got a solo in that one.

On her eleventh birthday, all of Jackie’s Abba fantasies came true when she received Abba Arrival the album, an Abba Annual, an Abba tee shirt and tickets to see Abba the movie! A devout Frida fan, she also thinks Benny is the cutest and never believed the wife swapping rumours. In her spare time away from ABBAlicious Jackie sings, acts and has made an exhibition of herself in bands like When the Cat’s Been Spayed, shows like Mum’s the Word and events like Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park.

Keri Harper
Star sign: Pisces
Favourite Abba song: Fernando because it’s got the words ‘bugle’ and ‘cannon’ in it and not many pop songs can boast that.

Barely old enough to experience the joys of ABBA the first time round; Keri can still appreciate their retro styling and esteemed place in pop history. Keri is a bonafide blonde bombshell with a golden voice and sparkling stage presence, so who better to fill the platform boots of Agnetha Faltskog? Keri loves Agnetha’s voice and 70’s outfits but draws the line at the uber mullet! Keri experienced the whirlwind of pop mega stardom first hand during her days with kiwi pop sensations ‘TrueBliss’.

Craig Muller
Star sign: Sagittarius
Favourite Abba song: Waterloo because it combines his two favourite passions – catchy pop tunes and 19th century European military history…don’t get stuck talking to this guy at a party!

Every Abba tribute act needs it’s own thespian to make sure the blue eye shadow is applied in an authentic 70s way and ABBAlicious has Craig Muller, a graduate of Toi Whakaari New Zealand Drama School (how’s that for flash eh?). Craig’s a talented actor, dancer and singer with oodles of TV drama and theatre credits. To name drop just a few, he’s appeared in Spin Doctors, Shortland Street and Xena, as well as performing at the countries leading professional theatres - Sweeney Todd at Downstage, The Wind in the Willows for the Auckland Theatre Company and Blue Sky Boys at The Court. And now he’s pouring himself into a pair of tight white flares for the entertainment and amusement of us all! What a pro!

Chris Powley
Star sign: Sagittarius
Favourite Abba song: The Winner Takes it All because it’s soooooo true.

Rounding out the blue-eyed blonde contingent of ABBAlicious is Chris Powley. Like Benny, Chris is a self-taught musician who’s learnt the ins and outs of the business in the glare of the spotlight. At the tender age of 28 Chris is already a veteran performer who started out at age 9 singing in the famous Lou and Simon show. He’s performed alongside the likes of Diamond Lil’, Maria Dallas and John Rowles and has toured internationally to Japan, Singapore, Australia and throughout the Pacific, in fact just about everywhere except Sweden! He’s performed country music in Tamworth, disco in Samoa and Poi E the Musical with the Patea Maori Club.
