How do I approach them?

Your first point of contact is to mail them a performing CV or letter explaining what you’ve done in the past in relation to the work you would like them to represent. Make sure you

• list lessons you’re taking (eg – Drama at school, ballet lessons to grade #)

• list any shows you’ve done including the role (eg – Pirates of Penzance – chorus – Wellington High School.)

• include your height, date of birth, address and phone numbers.

Enclose your CV with a clear photo of yourself and post it in.

If you haven’t heard from them, phone them in a week’s time to make sure they’ve received your letter. Ask to talk to the person looking after new recruits. If they’re not interested, they may have too many people to look after at the moment or you may not fit in with what they’re currently looking for. Don’t worry. Ask them for another agency contact better suited to your current skills and ask what you can do to improve your chances at this point. They might suggest a course or a change of look.

If they are interested they’ll ask you to come in for an interview.
