Finishing up

Although it can be a huge amount of fun, we are, essentially working in show BUSINESS. And a business it is. Even if you’re not working right now, you can help yourself. Be sure to:

  • Keep your photos up to date

  • Keep in touch with your agent – gentle persistence is the key

  • Do courses to improve your skills. They might be in the discipline you’ve already chosen or they might be something a little different to make you more valuable. Eg – a voice course, a stunt fighting course, a presenters course. These are also great reasons to call your agent so they can be added to your CV. Agents are always pleased to see their talent doing more for themselves.

  • Keep fit and healthy – it helps boost your confidence and a positive attitude

  • Do some amateur work – it adds to your experience to your CV.

  • Find a good networking group to keep up with what’s going on in the industry. Being an actor can be a very isolating experience!

Good luck!

We have a book we are currently writing about all the wonderful ways you can use Show Business as your main source of income. After all, it’s not just a case of finding an agent and then sitting back and waiting for the phone to ring. You’re going to need to do a little more work than that!

We’ll be giving you everything we know from our own show business experience, along with interviews of people in areas we don’t know so much about, to give you the best possible advise in Making it in Show Business. If you are interested in this book, keep an eye on our email newsletter and our website for the launch date.
