Dr Brian Edwards has been one of New Zealand’s most respected broadcasters for  nearly four decades.

He first made his name as the country’s top television interviewer on the current affairs programme Gallery and later devised the consumer programme Fair Go, which he alternately hosted and produced for eight years.

He has an equal wealth of experience in radio, culminating in the high-rating Top of the Morning which he presented from 1994 to 1999.

He has been a columnist for the Dominion Sunday Times, Metro, and the NZ Listener, and is the author of several books including The Public Eye, Intemperate Outbursts, Brian’s Week, How to Survive and Win with the Media (with Judy Callingham) and Helen – Portrait of a Prime Minister.

Dr Edwards holds an honours B.A. from the Queen’s University of Belfast and a Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh. He lectured at Canterbury University and was Head of Television for the Bachelor of Communication Studies degree at the Auckland University of Technology.

He was made a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit (CNZM) in 1999 for services to broadcasting and journalism.
